Fissure Sealant
A brilliant way to protect your little one’s teeth (and maybe even your own), fissure sealants are quick to make and offer teeth protection for years to come, significantly decreasing the chance of developing caries.
What is a fissure sealant treatment and when is it needed?
What is a fissure sealant?
Fissure sealants are plastic or resin coatings painted on the grooves of the back teeth and forming a protective layer, to prevent food and bacteria from entering sticking and creating a cavity. They should be applied to your child’s permanent molars as soon as possible after the eruption, but can also be applied to the baby teeth to increase their durability.
The procedure
Applying fissure sealants on children is one of the mildest procedures for the little ones – they won’t feel a thing. The tooth is thoroughly cleaned, prepared with a special solution, and the sealant is applied. All molars can be done with one visit to the clinic.
