Adult Orthodontics
Adult Orthodontics
What does Orthodontics means?
Orthodontics is the branch of dentistry specialising in the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of problems in the alignment of teeth and jaws. Effecting transformations by improving smiles and solving the problems of misaligned teeth.
Mention orthodontics to most people and, if the word was to inspire any kind of reaction at all, it might be to conjure up an image of a child wearing braces.
But orthodontics, expertly carried out, is about a great deal more than this. Here at Moira Wong Orthodontics in Kensington London W8, we use modern realignment techniques which can literally transform the lives of both adult and child patients. At our practice, we employ all the latest treatments – including clear ceramic brackets, invisible braces on the inside of the teeth and Invisalign.
It is never too late to get that beautiful, healthy smile!
Why have an Orthodontic treatment?
Crooked teeth can lead to periodontal disease, affect your bite and create an abnormal amount of stress on teeth and jaws which can lead to premature wear. The effects of crooked teeth can worsen over time and may adversely affect your overall health. Correctly positioning your teeth for proper alignment and function can help prevent future dental problems and make a significant difference toward a healthy mouth and keeping your teeth for life.
Adult orthodontics can also enhance self-confidence and improve general health.
Orthodontic excellence can make a huge difference to the confidence and well-being of patients of all ages. As well as delivering exceptional cosmetic dentistry results, our practice is dedicated to solving long-standing, often painful conditions caused by misaligned teeth. These might include jaw problems, discomfort when eating and even headaches, neck ache and shoulder tension.
Possible Treatments
Invisalign
Invisalign (the invisible braces alternative) – is the perfect choice for patients who want to keep their treatment to themselves.
Accelerated Treatment
Accelerated orthodontics is a combination of advanced orthodontics and high-frequency vibration technology for significantly expedited orthodontic treatments.
Fixed Braces for Adults
Traditional Metal Braces
Traditional metal braces are one of the most effective and commonly used ways to treat overcrowded, crooked teeth, jaw problems, misaligned bites, and address speaking or eating problems.
Ceramic braces are a type of fixed braces made of tooth-coloured, or clear material, that is blending with the natural colour of your teeth and is almost impossible to notice especially from a distance.
Self-ligating Braces
Traditional metal braces are one of the most effective and Self-ligating braces are another type of fixed braces. Unlike traditional braces that use elastic ligatures to hold the archwire, the self-ligating brackets have a built-in clip mechanism to engage the wire.
Lingual Braces
Lingual braces are fitted to the rear of your teeth, making them nearly invisible to others. Lingual braces still provide the level of control over tooth movement needed to correct the alignment of your teeth and adjust your bite but in a way more discreet manner.
Combination Treatments
Damon Insignia & Spark Aligners
Damon Insignia allow your orthodontist to plan the entire treatment including the sophisticated Damon Insignia self-ligating brackets and the clear Spark aligners through the same software interface. What this means to you is that you will be able to see the projected result from the beginning of your treatment, allowing you much greater control over the results you will achieve.
This treatment option smartly combines the control that ceramic braces allow the orthodontist with the discreteness of the Incognito brackets attached at the back of your teeth. For most people, this treatment means that lingual braces are used on the top arch, well-hidden at the back of your teeth. Ceramic attachments are typically placed on the bottom arch, where traditionally, more work is needed.
Invisalign & Fixed Braces
This reasoning is behind all combination treatments offered at Moira Wong Orthodontics, including Invisalign aligners and fixed braces. For our patients with more complex cases that require a sophisticated solution, our orthodontists will give you a choice of fixed braces and add the Invisalign aligners at the point of time, most suitable for the alignment you need.
Invisalign and Carriere Motion Appliance
Designed to assist patients with class II or class III misalignment, this device claims to speed up orthodontic treatments with months. Carriere motion appliance is essentially a small metal or clear arch which gets bonded on two teeth with two more in between (holding a total of 4 teeth). This helps the adjustment of your bite while the aligners ensure the precise straightening of your teeth.
