Damon Insignia & Spark Aligners
During the last few years, significant technological advancement has been made in orthodontics. The combination of specialised new software able to predict outcomes and the combination of self-ligating brackets and clear aligners, treatments now offer a completely new experience to orthodontic patients. One of those advanced treatments is the combination of Damon Insignia and Spark Aligners.
The Treatment
Designed and manufactured by the same company, Damon Insignia allow your orthodontist to plan the entire treatment including the sophisticated Damon Insignia self-ligating brackets and the clear Spark aligners through the same software interface. What this means to you is that you will be able to see the projected result from the beginning of your treatment, allowing you much greater control over the results you will achieve.
Similar to combining traditional fixed braces with Invisalign, this treatment includes a period of brackets and wires, during which the most significant changes are made, including altering your bite and where needed –
your jaw alignment. When this initial step of the treatment is completed, you continue with the clear removable aligners to polish the results and achieve the smile appearance you desire.
One of the biggest benefits of this treatment is that it places you in control of the process and enables you to comment on the aesthetics of your smile’s appearance from very early in the treatment, meaning that you can shorten the duration of treatment considerably. In simple words, Damon Insignia and Spark Aligners allow you to plan for success and stay in control.
The Process
Consultation
During your initial consultation we will carry out a full orthodontic assessment – this will require photos and X-rays to be taken. At Moira Wong Orthodontics we take our time and make sure we understand your concerns and requirements fully. Once the examination is complete, your orthodontist will be able to discuss the combination treatment of Damon Insignia and Spark Aligners with you and help you understand how it will benefit you.
Treatment plan
When you make your selection, we’ll prepare a full treatment plan. This document explains what will happen throughout your treatment, the projected duration, costs, etc. The plan doesn’t include your biological response to treatment (which differs greatly from a person to person) and will be the guidance we’ll use and adapt as we go and ensure you have the best possible experience with the most incredible results. Created on Damon Insignia’s advanced software, this treatment plan requires a few days after your consultation to be completed. You can then review the design of your smile created by your orthodontist and decide if you’re satisfied with the projected outcome.
First appointment
For your first appointment to happen, this will mean that we have already taken impressions and ordered your 100% custom-made Damon Insignia brackets. During this visit to the clinic, your orthodontist will bond the attachments and add the wire, officially beginning the exciting process of perfecting your smile.
Regular adjustments
Since we will have your entire treatment planned, you can count on the regularity of appointments from the start. We will need to see you every 6 or 8 weeks and the appointments won’t take more than 20-30 minutes. Do not hesitate to discuss your availability with our receptionists to ensure that you book these appointments at the most convenient times.
Retention period
At the end of your treatment, when your teeth and your bite have been appropriately adjusted, we will debond all attachments from your teeth. To ensure the retention of the achieved results and avoid relapse, we will place a fixed retainer. The fixed retainer is a thin wire bonded to the back of the upper and lower front teeth. It keeps them together and prevents them from moving, and you’ll never know it’s there!
We will also provide you with a set of removable retainers for you to wear overnight. The removable retainers are clear thin aligners that go over your teeth. They will help ensure your teeth are protected from moving and prevent you from grinding and applying forces that might affect the achieved results. Finally, we will see you for regular appointments approximately every three months during the first year post your orthodontic treatment. These appointments aim to closely monitor how your teeth behave post-treatment and react promptly if there are any changes.
