Removable braces for kids
There are many times when children will require orthodontic work in order to properly align their teeth. The good news is that there are now more choices than ever before thanks to modern technology.
Benefits of removable braces
No longer will children be concerned about the appearance of a “metal mouth”. Not only are they able to obtain quality results, but they will not need to be worried about the social stigma associated with traditional appliances. Children’s removable braces boast a number of advantages and if you feel that your child requires orthodontic work, it is a good idea to appreciate what is in store.
A second interesting feature of these modern marvels is that they do not remain permanently in place. Children will therefore be able to brush and floss their teeth without worrying about braces getting in the way. Not only can this encourage healthy oral care habits, but the chances of developing problems such as cavities and gum disease are dramatically reduced.
Children’s removable braces can also be used to prepare the teeth for more significant adjustments in the future. This leads to quicker overall treatment times, less discomfort and more reliable results. Children who become acclimated to these appliances at a relatively early age are more likely to follow the proper care techniques as they grow. Subsequent issues such as tooth extractions may even be avoided entirely.

What Types of Children’s Removable Braces are Available?
These removable braces can be grouped into two discrete categories:
Those meant to provide interceptive treatment
Interceptive treatments are those which address children between seven and eleven years of age. Similar to a traditional retainer, these types of children’s removable braces combine a clear plastic tray and a metal wire. This tray adheres to the roof of the mouth with the help of the wire. This method is generally used when only minor adjustments are required. Children will normally wear such braces for a few months or until the desired results have been achieved. However, keep in mind that major adjustments are not possible with these appliances.
