Carriere Appliance
The Carriere Motion Appliance, also known as motion appliance, could be the best option for individuals who require complex orthodontic treatments and need bite adjustment.
The device
The device, available in both clear and metal colours, is designed to help patients who need bite corrections Class II and Class III improve their bite and eliminate the need for headgear.
Patients of all ages can benefit from the Carriere Motion Appliance. Whether you or your child has been informed that a bite correction is necessary, schedule an appointment with our specialist orthodontist certified to work with Carriere Motion Appliance and see if this will be the right option for you.
Why choose a Motion Appliance?
This new technology allows bite correction to be approached in a novel way. The appliance helps you have a smoother, shorter, and more enjoyable dental experience by focusing on adjusting your bite before your braces are attached. Whether you require a minor bite adjustment or a non-surgical alternative to jaw surgery, this procedure can help you reach outcomes you won’t be able to achieve with conventional braces alone.
The device has a smooth, pleasant design that won’t irritate your mouth during treatment. Oral hygiene is simple, and the treatment design eliminates the need for elastics during the procedure. Instead, elastics are only used for the first several months of therapy before being removed entirely.
Can you combine Carrier Motion Appliance with Clear Aligners (Invisalign)?
In a nutshell – yes, you can. If you want a discreet yet quick treatment that includes a bite alignment and teeth straightening, ask our specialist orthodontist about the option of combining an Invisalign treatment with a Carrier Motion Appliance.
According to Henry Schein Orthodontics’ in-house study (see PDF here), utilising the appliance before beginning treatment can accelerate the treatment with months.
Who can benefit from Carriere Motion Appliance?
The technique is suitable for patients of all ages, from toddlers to adults. It was created with bite correction in mind, and it can help you improve:
- TMJ problems,
- open bite,
- underbite,
- overbite,
- crossbite,
- and more.
Schedule an appointment with our specialist orthodontist to review your case and see whether the Carriere Motion Appliance will help you achieve that gorgeous smile you’ve always wanted.
The Process
Consultation
During your initial consultation we will carry out a full orthodontic assessment – this will require photos and X-rays to be taken. At Moira Wong Orthodontics we take our time and make sure we understand your concerns and requirements fully. Once the examination is complete, your orthodontist will be able to recommend a choice of treatments and explain the pros and cons of each.
Treatment plan
Once we know which treatment you’re most interested in, we’ll prepare a complete treatment plan. This document explains what will happen throughout your treatment, the projected duration, costs, etc. Please note that individual biological responses will vary from patient to patient, and our treatment plan may not be as accurate as we’d all wish. Nonetheless, it will provide you with a good indication of time and shall you follow our guidance strictly, your treatment will be bliss.
First appointment
When you agree to the proposed treatment, we will schedule your first appointment to begin your treatment. At this visit to the clinic, your orthodontist will fit your Carriere Motion Appliance and instruct you on the elastics you need to wear. Because of the speed that we expect this treatment to work with, we may need to see you often within the first few months. In some cases, your orthodontist may decide to combine Carriere Motion Appliance and Invisalign aligners from the very start of the treatment – this will depend on your needs. Whichever the case, rest assured we’ll explain every step of the way in detail.
Regular adjustments
As mentioned above, we’re likely to want to see you more often while the Carriere Motion Appliance is actively moving your teeth and jaw. Once this process is over, you’ll need to come to the clinic every 6 or 8 weeks. If you’re very busy or simply want to travel without a worry in the world, talk to us about remote dental appointments – we have tons of tricks up our sleeve to give you the orthodontic experience you want and deserve.
Retention period
At the end of your treatment, when your teeth and your bite have been appropriately adjusted, we will remove the attachments for your Invisalign braces, and all brackets related to the Carriere Motion Appliance (if your treatment required it for the entire duration). To ensure the retention of the achieved results and avoid relapse, we will place a fixed retainer. The fixed retainer is a thin wire bonded to the back of the upper and lower front teeth. It keeps them together and prevents them from moving, and you’ll never know it’s there!
We will also provide you with a set of removable retainers for you to wear overnight. The removable retainers are clear thin aligners that go over your teeth. They will help ensure your teeth are protected from moving and prevent you from grinding and applying forces that might affect the achieved results. Finally, we will see you for regular appointments approximately every three months during the first year post your orthodontic treatment. These appointments aim to closely monitor how your teeth behave post-treatment and react promptly if there are any changes.
