Wisdom Teeth

With a little bit of love and care, children’s wisdom teeth can be retained for many years and can even be found useful in teeth straightening treatments at a later age. Talk to us about your kid’s options and we will work with you to find the best solution for your little ones.

What you need to know

Wisdom teeth often erupt later in life – sometimes not until someone is 30 or even more. As adults, we often don’t pay too much attention to our wisdom teeth unless a caries develops or we feel discomfort.

With children, however, wisdom teeth should be monitored closely. Improper eruption of a wisdom tooth can cause the entire smile to shift, become wonky, and can even affect the bite. If your child’s wisdom teeth are erupting, book an appointment to begin the monitoring progress and help your little one’s teeth remain healthy and their jaw development – correct.

Treatments

  • Hygiene
Maintaining perfect hygiene is quite important for the wisdom teeth which are generally difficult to reach. In-clinic, professional hygiene can be your kid’s best ally!
  • Dental filling
Treating caries on wisdom teeth as early as possible will protect the teeth and extend their life.
  • Extraction
If a wisdom tooth is causing trouble such as pain and discomfort or pushing the teeth and changing their alignment, sometimes the best option is to have it extracted. We do this gently, with the greatest care on your kid’s experience, making sure it doesn’t change their desire to visit the dentist.
