My Child Has Damaged A Tooth – What Should I Do?

There is no need to panic if your child damages their teeth, but it helps to act quickly:

– You should be able to get an emergency dentist appointment at your local dentist or emergency out of hours clinic.

– Always see a dentist for chipped, wobbly or knocked-out teeth to reduce the chances of any long-term damage to nerves which could result in future tooth loss.

– If the tooth has been knocked out it needs treatment as quickly as possible. First, clean it thoroughly and gently. Then reinsert into the socket.

“Trauma can provoke inflammation, which may damage the tooth’s root or nerve over time.”
