London has the biggest bilateral diplomatic community in the world, numbering some 22,000, one-third of which changes annually. That means there is an annual influx of diplomats and their families seeking services for their new life in London.
The Embassy Induction Seminar helps give them a better understanding of life in London and how to settle down in one of the greatest cities in the world.
Dr Moira Wong had an opportunity to meet all diplomats in the seminar and led a workshop on Dental Care in the UK. With support from NHS, the healthcare system in general and dental care, in particular, is very different from the rest of the world. For example, many diplomats and their spouses were impressed to know we do not have to pay for NHS dental treatment if, when our treatment starts, we are under 18. The workshop covers specific topics such as who is entitled to free NHS dental treatment in England and how we can get help with dental charges.
Moira Wong also gave an introduction to her practice, Moira Wong Orthodontics, and the amazing achievements the practice has made since its opening. Overall, the day went extremely well and Moira received a lot of questions from diplomats and their families.
“The seminar was very interesting. The team and I met and chatted with lots of diplomats. They were so friendly and eager to know more about the topics and the practice itself. We also managed to hand out 150 goody bags!” said Moira Wong.
