Earlier this month, Dr Moira Wong delivered a presentation on ‘Multidisciplinary Management of Adult Patients’ at Luton and Dunstable Hospital. The orthodontics talk attracted a large group of professionals from the local area and further afield, and it proved to be a huge success.
Currently, there is increasing demand among adult patients for aesthetic solutions. In more than 20 years working in the industry, Dr Wong has seen a wide range of patients with serious oral problems such as over-crowding, ageneses, edentulous spaces from old extractions and periodontal problems.
In order to deal with such issues, it is a must for orthodontists to come up with interdisciplinary strategies that will help orthodontic professionals carry out the complex treatments these cases require.
Since obtaining a fellowship in orthodontics, Dr Wong has practised and conducted extensive research on multidisciplinary management of adult patients. Hoping to share her experience in this field and suggest better practice for her colleagues, Dr Wong led the talk at Luton and Dunstable Hospital with a strong focus on the most effective interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches.
Dr Moira Wong also discussed the links between adult orthodontics and periodontics, prosthetics and temporomandibular disorders. She ran several group activities for attendees to exchange their ideas on the issues and to learn from each other’s experiences.
The talk received very positive feedback from attendees and Dr Wong herself was thanked for putting forward practical advice and suggestions.
