Third molars that don’t fully erupt through the gum line are called impacted or partially erupted wisdom teeth. These are symptoms:
- Pain or swelling that don’t go away.
- Jaw pain and / or stiffness.
- Bleeding gums.
Treatment involves having the wisdom tooth extracted so it doesn’t cause infection or teeth shifting further down the line. Extractions are done by a dentist in a single visit, and the majority of people recover from the procedure within a few days.
